A year of growing opposition of the working masses of the world to imperialism, fascism and war

Contradictions have become increasingly visible between countries, nations and peoples fighting for their sovereignty and the dominant imperialist powers that are imposing their vision on every country. US imperialism has shown its readiness to wage wars to defend its dominant position and those of American multinational corporations. It has unleashed death and destruction in West Asia and North Africa already.

The most striking feature of the global situation in recent years is the intensification of the contradictions within capitalist countries, between the exploited masses and the exploiters headed by the monopoly capitalists.

The multinational companies have shifted production of consumer goods to countries where skilled labour is available in plenty and is relatively cheap. More and more workers are getting super-exploited all over the world to supply goods and services at lowest cost to the retail monopolies. Unprecedented high levels of unemployment prevail particularly in advanced capitalist countries as increasing number of workers have lost their jobs.

This has led to the deepening and broadening of the capitalist economic crisis of overproduction. The world economy is in severe crisis because the purchasing power of the working masses has been greatly undermined by the drive of the monopolies to maximize their profits. Lack of purchasing power is leading to unsold inventories and cut-back of production, which is leading to more lay-offs and greater unemployment, resulting in even lesser purchasing power. The effect of this vicious circle of capitalist economic orientation is wreaking havoc with people's lives.

Working masses all over the globe understand, with greater clarity, that the capitalist orientation of economy and well-being of the people are not compatible. The capitalist governments are pushing "reforms" that are trying to shift the burden of the crisis on the working masses. The governments are bailing out the biggest capitalist banks and corporations while demanding that working families must fend for themselves. People are coming out on streets to demonstrate their disagreement.

Large number of workers have come out on to streets in France, Greece, Germany, the UK and across the US in defence of their right to livelihood and to declare that state cannot renege on its responsibility for social security and health service. Students have come out in strength in Britain and France to protest education becoming less accessible and affordable to them. Government employees, teachers, train drivers, dock workers at many others have likewise come out in large numbers throughout Europe to protest "reforms" that only benefit the monopolies. Massive numbers of people have joined the “Occupy Wall Street” protests and repeatedly occupied the turf of the financial players and reminded them that they, the people, constitute the 99%.

The peoples of Afghanistan and Iraq are courageously persisting in fighting to rid their motherland of foreign occupation troops, led by the United States. The outright criminality of the imperialist powers in concocting false pretexts for naked aggression, colossal destruction and colonial occupation stands exposed. Demonstrations against US led occupation are taking place in not only affected areas but also in the imperialist states themselves.

Resistance is mounting against the criminal acts of the Israeli Zionists against the Palestinian and other peoples of the region. The undemocratic and fascist nature of imperialist powers was revealed when the Palestinian representative made their case for membership of the UNGA last year.

Anger and opposition to the growing US imperialist domination and interference in their country has been extremely widespread in Pakistan. The vast majority of people consider US imperialism to be the number one enemy and danger facing Pakistan. US adventurist actions to allegedly assassinate Osama Bin Ladin last year and repeated military attacks have invited widespread protest demonstrations and condemnation in a number of countries.

Liberation from periodic economic crisis, fascism and war is only possible if the working masses unite and organise to overthrow this man-eating capitalist-imperialist system and establish their own rule.
