I would like to thank MEL for bringing the issue of privatisation of water supply in it's June 16-30 edition under the title-Delhi Jal Board workers oppose privatisation. We are going the wrong way in our water policy. Rahul Gandhi said when he visited the drought hit areas of Maharashtra that he will take WB loan to solve the problem.  With WB loan the pricing of water will be according to direction of World bank and water will become scarce for low income group. In 1957,  Dr. Rao had proposed Ganga Kaveri Link Project, which would avoid floods as well as drought. But the politicians did not want to implement the project because they could  swindle the funds given out  in the name of drought relief and flood relief!

The  Lavassa project on the Mumbai Pune Expressway also causes destruction of forests which have affected rainfall. In Assam also rain fall has reduced because forests are cut. In 1960 there was 500" of rain in Cherrapunjee and now there is only 200".  Even the water available in Delhi is contaminated water because the politicians take money from the industrialists and do not take action against these people who are polluting the water and the contaminated water released by these industries is damaging the next generation of the Indian civilization.
