Lok Raj Sangathan organises a seminar against anti-peasant laws

A meeting of peasants was organized by Lok Raj Sangathan to protest against the agricultural laws enforced by the Central government, on the occasion of Kisan Divas (Peasants’ Day) on December 23, at the Kumhar Dharamshala in Ramgarh, Rajasthan. The meeting paid tribute to the 35 peasants who were martyred in the course of the agitation at the Delhi border. A seminar was then conducted, as part of the meeting on the condition of farmers and the road ahead.

In the seminar, speakers strongly condemned the three anti-farmer laws recently passed by the central government. They explained that after independence from the British, no matter which party came to power, it has only worked in the interests of the big monopoly capitalists and against the interests of the peasants. This is the reason why the condition of the peasants has not improved over so many years. Different types of committees were set up and continue to be set up in the name of helping the peasantry. However, those in state power continue to serve the bourgeoisie and work to fill the coffers of the big corporate houses. People are completely marginalised from political power.

On the basis of the appeal made by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee throughout India, a one-day fast was also observed during the seminar. The seminar decided that all present would wear black bands and beat thalis in support of the Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee’s appeal to protest on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday, December 27.
At the conclusion of the seminar, it was unanimously decided that the three anti-farmer laws and the amended electricity bill should be strongly opposed and an appeal must be popularized among the people to participate in large numbers in the struggle for immediate demands. It was decided to attempt to increase the class consciousness of the public while participating in these struggles towards building up a challenge to the bourgeoisie.

The participants at the seminar also decided to go to the Singhu border in Delhi after 27 December to talk to the agitating farmers and to demonstrate their support for the ongoing struggle.

Prominent among the speakers who addressed the seminar were All India vice president of Lok Raj Sangathan – Hanuman Prasad Sharma, Dr. Krishna Nokhwal, Maniram Lakesar, Om Sangar, Om Sahu, former Sarpanch Shailendra Kumar, Dayaram Dheel, Khetaram Singathia, Ramamurthy Swami, Naresh Sangar and others.
