December 25, 2020 marked the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Ghadar Party. Taking into account the Covid-19 pandemic, the CC of the Party decided not to organise one large celebration to mark this important occasion. Instead, in many cities and rural districts across the country, as well as abroad, the Regional Committees of the Party organised celebrations to mark the occasion.
The anniversary meetings took place in the background of the unprecedented, united, struggle of workers and peasants against the anti-worker and anti-peasant policies of the government. Everywhere, the meetings reflected the high spirits of the comrades, who have been working hard, not only this past year, but over decades, to build the party in the working class and peasantry. Everywhere, comrades enthusiastically affirmed their faith in the correctness of the line of the Party.
The meetings discussed the significance of the mass upsurge of workers and peasants across the country. The ruling class has used the Covid pandemic, to greatly intensify the exploitation of workers and robbery of peasants through blatantly anti-worker labour codes and anti-farmer laws. But the workers and peasants have rejected these laws and are stepping up their struggles demanding their rights. Lakhs of peasants and workers are camping at the borders of Delhi to press for their demands.
The bourgeoisie has been and will continue to create illusions so that the consciousness of the working class, peasantry and all oppressed is blocked from identifying their real enemy. It is trying its utmost to sow divisions amongst the people. The fighting peasants and workers are rejecting these divisive machinations of the rulers and are exposing the bourgeoisie’s lies again and again.
Workers unions are coming together under a common banner of struggle, overcoming union and party divisions. Hundreds of peasant unions representing peasants from different regions of the country are waging a united struggle. Worker-peasant unity is being reflected in the coordinated struggles of workers trade unions and peasants’ organisations.
Just a year ago lakhs of students, women, youth and working people in different towns and rural districts of the country had come out in protest against the blatantly communal Citizenship Amendment Act which discriminates amongst people on the basis of religion, and the proposal to create a National Register of Citizens on the basis of this Act. People of our country asserted that India belongs to every Indian, irrespective of his or her religious beliefs. Through their united struggle, our people showed their opposition to the efforts of the ruling class to divide people.
In the anniversary meetings, party comrades discussed what the things and phenomenon unfolding were revealing. Everywhere, they unanimously resolved to redouble their efforts to prepare the working class in alliance with the toiling peasantry to establish worker peasant rule in place of the rule of the capitalist class.
Through passionate interventions, many comrades spoke of their experience with the Party in all the years since they joined its ranks. No matter how young they are or how new to the Party, members of our party are encouraged to freely raise their point of view. Criticism and self-criticism, constantly practised in every forum of our party in order to identify our shortcomings and fearlessly rectify them, has kept our party strong, united and healthy. Comrades expressed their faith in the steadfast loyalty of the Party to the working class and its firm adherence to the program of establishing the rule of the working class and peasantry through revolution.
Interventions by comrades were interspersed with revolutionary songs and poems. The meetings concluded with militant slogans of Mazdoor-Kisan Ekta Zindabad! Communist Ghadar Party Zindabad! Inquilab Zindabad!
