The Manipur branch of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) has warned that they will go on strike from July 29 if the government does not meet the nurses’ demand to increase their grade pay and allowance by July 20.
The TNAI submitted a memorandum on July 14 to state chief secretary, pointing out that amid the high prevalence of Covid-19 cases and fatalities in the state, the state government nurses have been working tirelessly, at risk to their own health. However the government continues to ignore their demand for higher wages and nursing allowance. The nurses have demanded that their wages and allowances should be made at par with the nurses working under the central government since the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in the state.
