Report from Mazdoor Ekta Lehar’s correspondent
The Rajasthan Nurses Samyukt Sangarsh Samiti took out a mass rally on 25th August 2023 at the Ramleela Maidan near Ramnivas Bagh in Jaipur. The rally was in support of the nurses’ 11-point demands. Thousands of nurses working in district hospitals, village dispensaries and Primary Health Centres participated in this rally. The rally announced a general strike by nurses on 5h September and submitted a petition to the chief minister.
As was reported earlier in Mazdoor Ekta Lehar, close to 55,000 nurses working across all government hospitals and dispensaries have been carrying out a campaign since 18th July in support of their 11-point demands. However, the government has not paid any heed to the demands of the nurses, leaving no course to them but to go on strike.
The nurses have announced that they would be organising various protests in the days running up to the 5th September strike. There will be two-hour protests from 8 am to 10 am at the gate at every dispensary. Notice of protest will be conveyed to the chief minister on 27th August through the officials at the district offices.
