Union leader Devidas Tuljapurkar was charge-sheeted earlier this year for having published a poem in the union’s house magazine in 1994. The union has alleged that he was being persecuted for writing to the Reserve Bank Governor D Subba Rao, highlighting the banks questionable corporate practices.
The All Indian Bank Employees Union (AIBEU) has supported the strike call of the Bank of Maharashtra workers union.
