On 8 February 2025, more than 4,000 contract workers employed for cleaning and security services in various regional and district hospitals under the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP) demonstrated for their pending wages in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana.

400_TVVPIt is to be noted that Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad was established on 2 June 2014 after the division of the united Andhra Pradesh state into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. Secondary level hospitals in Telangana state are being managed through this organization.

A one-hour protest is being held everyday at District Koti Hospital Hyderabad and in Regional Hospitals in Nampally, Malakpet etc.

According to the Telangana Medical Employees and Workers Union, the employees have not been paid their salaries for the past few months. According to the TVVP office, the government has not approved the budget for the payment for their salaries.

The employees say that they have been protesting for the past several days in support of their demands. Their demands are not being met. The workers have announced that they are preparing to go on strike in support of their demands.

Thousands of workers, nurses, cleaning staff, ward boys, technicians, blood sample collectors and doctors are working on contract in hospitals under the central and state governments across India. There is no guarantee of job security. They have to work for more than 8 hours. Safety kits are also not provided to them. For such regular work, the government hires workers on contract and get the work done by them. The government is playing with the lives of patients through neglect of these issues.
