On 12 February, various farmer organizations under the leadership of All India Kisan Sabha and Samyukta Kisan Morcha gheraoed the Pilibanga police station and organized a meeting at the location.
While addressing the gathering during the gherao of the police station, the speakers said that private finance companies and banks are looting and committing hooliganism against the farmers. Finance companies are filing false cases against farmer leaders. The only way to fight against all these atrocities is to mobilize all the farmers.
The poor farmers who had taken loans from the banks, have had their houses confiscated by the private finance companies and banks in lieu of the loans. This step has forced them to live under the open sky. The farmers called for organizing a huge Kisan Sabha at the District Collectorate on March 3 and for gheraoing the Collectorate.
Comrade Hanuman Prasad Sharma, All India Vice President of the Lok Raj Sangathan, said that the government has waived off lakhs and crores of rupees of corporate houses by declaring them as NPAs whereas poor families are being forced to spend their nights and days under the open sky by confiscating their houses to recover small loans of workers and farmers. Therefore, we need to forget all our differences and fight unitedly.
After the meeting, the protesters held talks with the police officers at the meeting place. The farmer leaders demanded the withdrawal of the cases filed by the finance company.
