May Day 2025 enthusiastically celebrated by the Delhi Regional Committee of the Party

The Delhi Regional Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India (CGPI) organised a public rally on 1 May 2025, in front of the Party office in Delhi. The Party office was decorated with red flags, as well as a big banner hailing May Day, the international working class day.

Workers, women and youth gathered in large numbers. They held placards in their hands with slogans written on them – ‘Long live May Day!’, ‘Red salute to the martyrs of May Day!’, ‘Unitedly oppose the attacks on our livelihood and rights!’, ‘Fight to establish the rule of workers and peasants!’, ‘ Stop privatisation of banks, railways, insurance, electricity, health and education!’, ‘Down with capitalist exploitation!’, ‘Fight for secure employment and a life of dignity!’, ‘Stop crushing our right to protest!’, ‘Implement equal pay for equal work!’ etc.

Militant slogans by the youth activists — ‘Long live the revolution!’, ‘Long live May Day!’ ‘Long live the martyrs of Chicago!’, ‘we will end exploitation and slavery, create a new society!’ – drew large numbers of the workers residing in the vicinity to the rally. A veteran comrade of the party hoisted the red flag, paying homage to the countless martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the cause of liberation of the working class.

This was followed by a militant speech by a representative of the Party. Bringing out the history of May Day, the comrade elaborated on the struggle being waged by the working class and people at this time in our country. He elaborated on the struggles of different sections of the working class — railways, banking, insurance, telecommunication, coal mines, electricity, etc. – against privatisation, the united struggle of workers against the four Labour Codes as well as the growing opposition of all sections of workers to the increasing attacks on their livelihood and rights. The speaker pointed out that faced with this mass resistance, the ruling capitalist class is resorting to diabolical communal and divisive methods, to smash the unity of the working class and other sections of the exploited people. It is resorting to increasing use of police powers to crush all forms of dissent.

World over and in India too, the capitalist ruling class is pursuing a course that threatens the very survival of humanity. Only the working class can save humanity, by organising to take political power in our hands, taking over the ownership of the means of production from the capitalists and reorganising the economy to fulfil the growing needs of all the working people. He called on the workers to come forward and unite around this historic mission.

A spirited march through the workers’ colony followed, with the youth hoisting banners, placards and red flags, and raising militant slogans, to spread the message of May Day among all the workers.

May Day meetings were organised by the Delhi Regional Committee of the Party in workers colonies in other parts of Delhi as well. Women, youth and workers from diverse sectors, including informal workers, self-employed workers and domestic workers participated in these meetings.
