Millions of workers participated in militant rallies all across the world on May Day 2025. The cities of the world reverberated with the slogan “long live workers’ unity”.
On 1 May, workers marched on the streets in many cities in countries all over the world, like Tokyo and several other cities of Japan, Seoul (South Korea), Manila (Philippines), Taipei (Taiwan), Jakarta (Indonesia), Delhi and other cities of India, Kathmandu (Nepal), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Istanbul (Turkey), Baghdad (Iraq), Berlin and other cities of Germany, Paris and other cities of France, Moscow (Russia), Madrid and Barcelona (Spain), Athens (Greece), London (United Kingdom), Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC (USA) and Havana (Cuba).
The demonstrators carried placards, chanted slogans and waved red flags as they demanded an end to assaults on workers’ rights, cutbacks on social programs and immigration policies. Workers demanded higher wages expressing their concern about higher prices of food and other necessities, including education and healthcare.
In the United States, this year’s International Workers’ Day protests were organised as a united resistance to the administration’s sweeping assault on labour rights, immigrant families and federal employees. A banner on the streets of Los Angeles read “One struggle, One fight – Workers Unite!”
May Day 2025 rallies reflected the resolve of the working class and people of all countries to defend their livelihood and rights against the intensifying capitalist assault.
