Coir workers' unions of Kerala are on the warpath against the State government's failure in implementing minimum wages in private and cooperative sectors despite the notification coming into effect on July 1.
Kerala Coir Workers Union (HMS) president G. Sugunan said in Thiruananthapuram that minimum wages were not being paid in any part of the State despite the Minister for Coir announcing the same. He said the State government should create a favourable climate for increasing the minimum wages to the notified amount of Rs.150.
A delegation of union leaders submitted a memorandum to the Minister for Coir seeking immediate action.
