Comrade KL Bajaj

A packed memorial meeting was held in Vanamali Hall, in Dadar, Mumbai on 6th May 2014 to pay respects to Comrade KL Bajaj who passed away on April 18th 2014 at the age of 79 years. The meeting was attended by members of different trade unions, mass organizations and political parties.

A packed memorial meeting was held in Vanamali Hall, in Dadar, Mumbai on 6th May 2014 to pay respects to Comrade KL Bajaj who passed away on April 18th 2014 at the age of 79 years. The meeting was attended by members of different trade unions, mass organizations and political parties.

Comrade KL Bajaj was an active trade unionist, and was President of Maharashtra CITU and one of its National Vice Presidents. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

As a trade unionist he was known for having cordial relations with all members of different unions. For nearly 25 years, he was convener of Trade Union Joint Action committee (TUJAC), a body formed of all the trade unions in Maharashtra. He kept the unity of this organization alive by emphasizing on the common struggle against the bourgeoisie. He took a principled stand in defence of the equal rights of all organizations in TUJAC.

Many speakers from the different organizations came and spoke of his opposition to the exploitation of workers by capitalists and that he would go to support any union fighting against the owners. He was active till the end. He had to undergo an operation and doctors had advised rest but he carried on work and hence he became very ill.

The meeting was also attended by his daughter and grand children and they said he was affectionate to all of them and took interest in their work. His daughter addressed the gathering and thanked all the trade union leaders and workers for remembering her dear departed father.
