Manholes and sewer lines overflowed and sunk Hyderabad city roads as casual workers of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board staff and workers’ union went on an indefinite strike on June 18, demanding regularisation.

According to the Union, the High Court issued orders to the Water Board to regularize 294 out of 500 workers, but the Water Board had ignored this directive of the High Court.
