Thousands of peasants from UP and other places held a massive protest rally in New Delhi on August 26, against the forcible acquisition of their land for the Yamuna Expressway. They condemned the police firing on agitating peasants in Aligarh on August 15, in which four peasants were killed and nearly 20 injured.
The protesting peasants denounced the connivance between the Central government and the UP government in forcibly taking over the peasants' lands and demanded that the central government imediately withdraw the anti peasant Land Acquisition Bill.
This massive peasant rally is indicative of the deep anger and discontent seething in the hearts of the peasants and working people all over the country, against the central and state governments, which are going all out in defence of the interests of the big corporate monopoly houses, at the cost of the interests of the peasants, tribals and other sections of the working people.
