Hundreds of people gathered outside the Israeli embassy in New Delhi om 13^th July to protest the barbaric genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza strip. This demonstration was organised under the banner of “Indian people’s solidarity with Gaza”. Hundreds of students, youth, intellectuals, artists and ordinary citizens participated in the demonstration.

Halt the capitalist offensive to forcibly acquire lands of peasants and tribal people

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Rural Development, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has initiated a discussion through the monopoly media on changing key provisions of the 2013 land acquisition law, declaring that “development” is being hindered by the present law.

On 3^rd July, the Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karamchari Sanyukt Mahasangh organised a meeting concluding protest actions all over the state including in Jaipur. This organization represents seven lakh government employees. These include, besides the state government employees, workers of boards, corporations, autonomous bodies, Panchayati Raj and those on contract, etc.

Teachers of Delhi government schools have been on strike since the last three weeks, under the leadership of the All-India Guest Teachers Association. Teachers have been on a hunger strike since 8^th July, under this banner.

Divisive and diversionary tactics

The ruling class is geared up to push ahead full steam with capitalist reforms. The new government has lost no time in announcing measures that have gladdened the hearts of the big bourgeoisie, while stepping up the exploitation and oppression of the working class and people.

In February 2014 the ASSOCHAM (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), an organisation of the capitalists, issues a press release, according to which between 2008-09 and 2012-13, the number of contract workers increased by 39% over the entire country. The use of contract labour has increased in all such sectors where work is of a permanent nature.
