Workers of a Jindal cement factory in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh have been carrying out militant protests, braving police assaults and firing, since January 22, 2011. The immediate cause was the death of a worker due to unsafe working conditions in the factory on that day. The workers were demanding ex gratia for the family of their deceased comrade.
