IDBI workers organise dharna against privatization

IDBI workers have been fighting unitedly against the sale of IDBI to private and foreign players. On 9 December 2022, the United Forum of IDBI Officers and Employees organised a dharna outside the IDBI Bank head office, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai, to oppose the privatization of IDBI. Soon after the dharna started, police authorities moved the protesting workers from the head office premises to Azad Maidan, where the demonstration continued.

Cutback in public wheat procurement for the benefit of private trading companies

The all-India daily average retail price of wheat flour (atta) touched the high of Rs. 36.98 a kg, according to data from the consumer affairs ministry. The retail price of atta has increased by 17% in the past one year. This has put further burden on people, who are already facing the highest ever prices of LPG, petrol and diesel.
