I was saddened to hear of the passing away of Com. Nexhmije Hoxha earlier this year at the age of 99.  The lives of such persons will always be a beacon to the generations that follow. 

The Call of the Central Committee of the CGPI on the occasion of May Day very correctly analyses that, in the light of recent developments, “capitalism stands nakedly exposed as an inhuman system, geared to keep enriching a super-rich minority at the cost of millions of human lives.” 

Immediately after the lockdown was announced, the Finance Minister announced with great fanfare grandiose schemes of crores of rupees to help working people who have lost their livelihood as a result. Distribution of grain and pulses along with some other food stuff was one of the announcements.

I am a regular reader of your paper since I find it very insightful. Through your newspaper I would like to share with your readers as to how Coronavirus pandemic is an opportunity for big capitalist groups.

I am writing to express my thanks to you for carrying the article entitled `Preventive Detention — An Anti-Democratic feature of the Indian Constitution’ carried in the April 1-15, 2020 section of the web-edition of MEL.  This issue is at the heart of governance in India and is therefore worthy of the attention of the Working Class and of all Communists.

I read both your articles on the issue of stranded migrant workers and the SoP that has been issued by the Government of India. The analysis presented in the first article “Indian capitalists do not want daily-wage workers to go back to their homes!” is reinforced by the SoP issued by the government on 19th April.

The article presented by Mazdoor Ekta Lehar on the 150th birth anniversary of the great communist leader – Com. V.I. Lenin underscores the relevance of his theories and teachings to the present. Lenin laid bare the truth behind the façade of bourgeois parliamentary democracy,

I have just read the article- Nurses are braving the COVID-19 crisis in the face of heavy odds. It is really shocking that those persons who are saving the lives of their fellow-beings are being ill-treated.

I stay in Dharavi, Central Mumbai, which is Asia’s biggest slum. Around 7 lakhs people stay here and the majority of them are workers and self employed persons. Many of the people staying here are daily wage workers and their livelihood depends on daily work. Their families are in their native places and they depend on these workers to send money home every month.
