Strike of Punjab Roadways workers

8000 contract and outsourced workers of bus service in Punjab went on a three-day strike from 6 January 2025. Drivers, conductors and other employees of Punjab Roadways, PRTC and PUNBUS participated in this strike. Permanent employees of the transport service also supported the strike.

Agitation of dismissed sahayak teachers in Chhattisgarh

2900 “sahayak” (assistant) teachers in Chhattisgarh are struggling to save their jobs. On 12 January, the teachers took out a militant 5 km crawling rally. Earlier on 10 January, NCET (National Council of Teachers Education) took out a funeral procession and burnt an effigy. They have been on mass hunger strike since 3 January. The assistant teachers have been adopting different forms of protest against their dismissal and demanding from government the repeal of their dismissal.

Central Trade Unions announce campaign to advance the struggle in defence of rights of workers and peasants
The Central Trade Unions have announced an all India day of protest action on 5 February to condemn the anti worker, anti peasant, anti people course being pursued by the government. This will be followed by an All India campaign against the four labour codes. The Unions have announced that they will organise a General Strike in the event the Central government goes ahead with notifying the rules for the labour codes.

Deplorable Conditions of Signalling and Telecommunication Workers of the Indian Railways
S&T workers are often sent out for maintenance, repair work or patrolling alone owing to a shortage of staff. This puts these workers at high risk. Working alone under stressful conditions while using heavy equipment can result in workers missing signs of an incoming train. This has resulted in multiple run over incidents over the years. Different railway unions in different zones have raised the demand for the filling up of vacancies in S&T departments across the country so that workers can be sent out to work in pairs or groups. These demands remain unfulfilled to a large extent.
