Elections to the Tamil Nadu state assembly will take place at a time when the credibility crisis of the political system in our country is extremely acute.  The majority of people are fed up with parties that rule in the name of the people, while working to enrich the biggest capitalists and themselves.  They are disgusted with the Parliament which is filled with the leaders of such self-serving parties.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev The call of the martyrs to our youth is to struggle for a new India!

March 23 marks the anniversary of the martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his comrades Sukhdev and Rajguru, at the hands of the British colonial rulers. The call of our martyrs – that the struggle shall continue as long as a handful of exploiters, whether foreign or Indian, continue to exploit the toiling masses – rings in the hearts of our revolutionary youth even today.

On the NAC Note on National Food Security Bill: No compromise on the demand for universal coverage of public food distribution!

The National Advisory Council (NAC), headed by Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi, has released an Explanatory Note on the proposed National Food Security Bill, and asked for comments on this note from all interested parties by 15th March.  This Explanatory Note is in support of a draft National Food Security Bill that would give conditional entitlements of fixed quantities of rice, wheat or coarse grains at subsidised prices to ‘priority’ and ‘general’ category households.

Hopes of livelihood for the youth of Uttarakhand doomed

On February 28, 2011 many workers protested under the banner of the Uttarakhand Lok Panchayat. They were protesting the stalling of welfare schemes in their state; they were demanding among other things – an end to the contract system in places of employment, an assurance that each citizen of the state is given a proper salary, that precautions are taken during a natural disaster, to ensure aid and bring the situation under control at a rapid pace during such a calamity.

German train drivers on strike

On 22nd February 2011, a two hour nationwide strike by train drivers brought most of the morning rush hour rail transport in Germany to a standstill. The Rhine-Main region and Stuttgart were particularly affected. The city of Dresden in East Germany and the Berlin city train system were also hit by this action.
