Tata Memorial Hospital staff win the right to fight for their rights

Employees at Tata Memorial Centre, the country’s premier facility for treatment of cancer, can now agitate against unfair labour practices legally and put up their grievances before the local labour commissioner. On August 9, 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that they are governed by the state labour laws.

Japan : Rally to protest anti-union activities of shipping company

Dockers and seafarers gathered outside the head office of a Japanese shipping company Dowa Lines in July 2010 against the firm’s anti-union actions. They demanded that the company sign agreements of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF) for its fleet of 24 vessels.
