This year marks the 65th anniversary of the defeat of fascism by the world’s peoples led by the socialist Soviet Union. This momentous victory was achieved through unparalleled heroism and sacrifices of tens of millions of women and men.

The Lok Raj Samiti of Sanjay Colony, located in the Okhla industrial estate was re-established on July 25, 2010. Besides hundreds of members of Lok Raj, the residents of Sanjay Colony participated in the public meeting on the occasion. The members of Lok Raj Samitis of neighbouring chawls participated as representatives of their colonies in this meeting.

After hundreds of small and big protests by workers, peasants, and working people demanding that the UPA government take immediate measures to control prices of essential commodities, the Indian people organized a massive Bharat Bandh on July 5, 2010. The Communist Ghadar Party of India as well as various other political parties, trade union organizations, traders' organizations, as well as student and youth organizations gave the call for this day of action. According to news reports (TOI July 1, 2010), Law Minister Veerappa Moily is proposing to enact a law that Public Interest Litigations aimed at stopping "developmental projects" on environmental grounds would have to pay the cost of delay of projects, when their PIL's get rejected. This proposal is a key aspect of the new National Litigation Policy.

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission is supposed to be an independent authority that sets the prices consumers have to pay for electric power in the national capital.  However, on 4th May, 2010, the Delhi Government issued a directive to the Commission not to issue the tariff order for 2010-11.  As a result, the privately owned distribution companies of the Tatas and Reliance are overcharging consumers to the extent of Rs.300 crore per month.  This has been stated in the most recent communication from the Chairman of DERC to the Chief Secretary of Delhi Government, who is also Principal Secretary for power.

Once more, the UPA government is planning to bring a Bill dealing with communal violence before Parliament.
