The Congress Party and its leader Sonia Gandhi have been propagating far and wide that they have found a “solution” to the land acquisition problem which will be both in favour of the capitalists and the farmers. This is supposed to be the “Haryana model” of land acquisition. The on-going struggles of farmers all across the length and breadth of the state of Haryana against the land acquisition moves of the Haryana government have exposed the myth that there is a meeting ground between the farmers struggle for livelihood and the capitalists drive for maximum profits.

As the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar reacted incredulously, “Doesn’t the government of India already know the situation that is prevailing in Kashmir?!” This latest move only confirms the utter bankruptcy of the Indian state, its inability to even pretend that it has a solution to the problem.
