As part of its drive to grow and amass ever greater profits, the Indian big bourgeoisie is expanding its reach abroad as well as within the country. It is seeking new markets, sources of energy, minerals and raw materials, as well as profitable fields for investment of its capital.  One of the areas where it is expanding its presence most dramatically in recent years is the resource-rich continent of Africa.

Sir, I am very grateful to the CGPI for publishing highly informative and timely article entitled “Rapid militarisation to stake claim as a world class imperialist power’’ in the February 1-15, 2010 issue of PV.  There are many important and interesting points that have been emphasized in this article. 

Sir, I would like to join the CGPI in its solemn observation of the tenth anniversary of the Modern Foods struggle and express my thanks for posting an article on the subject in the Feb. 16-28, 2010 issue of PV. There are events of this kind that need to be remembered as they represent milestones in the class struggle that is being waged in the country.

On the occasion of 8th March, 2010, the beginning of the centenary year of International Women’s Day, the Congress Party led UPA Government is tabling the Women’s Reservation Bill as its gift to the women of India.

There are fears that there will be a domino effect on the economies of the rest of Europe, and.the EURO has fallen in relation to the Dollar. GDP statistics reveal that all four economies experienced zero or negative growth in the last quarter of 2009.
