Elections in 5 states

With reference to the article carried in the Nov. 16-30, 2018 issue of MEL entitled `Elections in 5 states: Both BJP and Congress Party must be defeated!  Building worker-peasant united front is the only way.’ The issue of elections and that of the divide between the so-called `communal' and `secular' forces is one of the important ones on which massive confusion is caused by bourgeoisie to continue its rule.

Standing with the victims of sexual harassment

I wish to congratulate the CC of the CGPI on the fearless stand it has taken in the form of the Statement dated 20-10-2018 and carried in the Nov. issue of MEL entitled `Let us stand with the victims of sexual harassment.'  There has been some confusion being created in the minds of the common people by stating that complaints have only come forward from `entitled' women and women who are themselves of privilege, as if any crime committed against such women is any less gruesome, even assuming that such ridiculous charges are true.

Letter to Editor: Anarchy, violence and terror serve to maintain capitalist rule

I am writing in response to the article entitled 'Anarchy, violence and terror serve to maintain capitalist rule', carried in the September 1-15,2018 issue of MEL. Letter to Editor: US imperialism is the most ferocious enemy of humanity

The in-depth article entitled `US imperialism is the most ferocious enemy of humanity' carried in the September 16-30, 2018 issue of MEL is significant. It brings out the essence of this dominant feature of our era in no uncertain terms, and also arms the working class with a plan to take the work of revolution forward. It is important to know what the precise modus operandi of the imperialists is at this time and also to discover where the chinks in the arms of imperialism is in order to break the impasse. As in the era of Lenin, the present era is also one where imperialism is ripe and rife with contradictions, and it is important also to know where it is weakest so that the weakest link in the chain may be broken.

Letters to Editor: Anarchy, Violence and Terror

Dear Editor,

The article in MEL entitled “Anarchy, Violence and Terror Serve to Maintain Capitalist Rule” is very timely, and sheds much needed light on this growing phenomenon in our society today.

People everywhere are getting more and more alarmed by the growth of the politics of violence and terror, and the systematic targeting of individual people and communities on the basis of religion, caste, region and so on. It is clear that those in power are very much behind this, and that they are using this for their agenda.

Letters to Editor - Growth for whom?

Dear Editorji,

One of the issues being debated in the news media these days is whether GDP grew faster when the Congress Party was in charge or when the BJP has been in charge. I believe this is a completely diversionary debate. Workers and peasants do not benefit from capitalist growth, no matter whether it is in single digits or in double digits.

Letters to Editor - Workers and peasant must organise to become the rulers of India!

The Editor,

I am writing to thank you for carrying the statement of the CC of the CGPI issued on 12-8-2018 entitled `Workers and peasant must organise to become the rulers of India!', which has been carried in the August 16-31, 2018 issue of MEL. The matter has ceased to be one of academic interest and is indeed the imperative of the day, caused by the unbearable living conditions for the largest fraction of the people of the country by the bourgeoisie, its parties and its policies.

Letters to Editor - On the 71st anniversary of Indian independence

I am writing in reponse to the Statement of the CC of the CGPI dated 1-8-2018 which is entitled 'On the 71st anniversary of Indian independence: India will be truly independent only when people are empowered' which was carried in the August 1-15, 2018 issue of MEL. This is an important theoretical and practical article and must be studied by the working class and those in the revolutionary camp. It is an example of the living science of Marxism-Leninism which is based on dialectical materialism and class struggle. In particular, it is the application of this in the sphere of political economy that brings out the nature of the State. It is especially important because of the vast confusion surrounding the nature of the State and of Democracy in India.

Letters to the Editor - The real aim of the NRC is to create division amongst people

On 30th July the second and final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) of Assam was released. The tension that this provoked in the country and particularly in Assam is not unexpected. It only confirms the analysis given in the 16-31 July issue of the Mazdoor Ekta Lehar wherein the issue of NRC was taken up. The article clearly stated that “The entire exercise of creating a National Register for Citizens for Assam is being carried out in a manner that criminalises the people, terrorizes them and smashes their unity. It is laying the grounds for intensification of communal and sectarian divisions of the people of Assam”

Imperialist lies and justification

I am writing to thank you for carrying the bold and principled Statement of the CGPI dated 14 April 2018 entitled 'Condemn the brutal missile attacks on Syria'. Guilty must be punished

Dear Editor, MEL This is in response to the Call of the CC of the CGPI dated 24-10-2017 on the eve of the 33rd anniversary of the state-sponsored massacre of Sikhs in 1984. The call emphasizes that the struggle to punish the guilty of the 1984 genocide has not yet been fruitful, and also that such a struggle is part and parcel of the struggle to establish a new state that will ensure prosperity and protection for all.

Letter to Editor: On the War against terrorism

The article entitled `"War against terrorism" is the banner behind which US imperialism is trying to establish its domination over Asia' was very straightforward and logical. This article places in perspective the activities of the Government of India in trying to isolate Pakistan and accusing it of being among other things `..pre-eminent export factory of terror' and at times in the past as the `...epicentre of terror' and all other kinds of accusations.

The great October Revolution in Russia has been the greatest victory for the working class in the era of modern capitalism and is a great inspiration for the working class today. Letter to Editor: On the War against terrorism-II

As mentioned in the article “the government of Pakistan has refused to send its armed forces into Afghanistan”, this step is understandable given the experience Pakistan has had with the US. Every time Pakistan has allowed US to interfere within its boundaries or taken assistance from the US it has met with ill-fate. And now the US is ensuring that Pakistan is globally deemed a terrorist state, building the scene for something that needs to be dealt with as part of its “war on terrorism”. From Pakistan’s experience, one would think it wise to be wary of USA’s “friendship” judging from the way the US has repaid Pakistan for being an ally. If the Indian state were to evaluate the situation keeping in mind the security of its people and not the selfish expansionist interests of the bourgeoisie, it would be obvious that being an ally to the USA comes at a very high cost and will only lead to destruction and devastation of the region.

Oppose India’s participation in the US strategy

The article entitled "US unveils strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia: Grave threat to all peoples of the region" in the September 16-30, 2017 issue of MEL is educative and a must for the working class which is constantly bombarded by the Indian ruling class controlled media, the world according to which is one where Pakistan is the epicentre of terror, and that it is the US that is the guardian of democracy in the world, and also in the region. In reality, nothing could be farther from the truth.

I am writing to thank you for carrying the speech of Com. Prakash Rao presented on November 4, 2012 which was entitled `The struggle to punish the guilty and to prevent communal violence is part of the struggle for the Navnirman of India', which was carried in the November 16-30, 2012 online issue of your paper.

The cloak of PPP

I have read with interest your October 16-31 issue which carried a box on “Extension of working hours and increase in workload.” This matches with my own experience in life. I am an IT Engineer. I sit in front of my computer in an air-conditioned room. But I do not think I am better off than some workers performing manual work.

Struggle for justice can only be realized with power in the hands of people

I am writing in response to the article entitled `The genocide of Sikhs in November 1984: Those in power must be held accountable for their crimes’ published in the October 16-31, 2012 issue of MEL on the eve of the anniversary of one of the worst organized crimes against the Indian people.  It is well acknowledged that a severe crisis in the ranks of the ruling circles was emerging

US Imperialist intrigue

Sir,

I wish to join the refrain expressed in the article published in the June 1-15, 2012 issue of MEL entitled “Condemn US imperialist intrigue and meddling in India and the region!” This article was published at the time of the visit of Ms. Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State and well-known war monger and mischief maker.

Inspiring article

I read the article, “The anti-worker and anti-national policy of privatisation must be exposed and resolutely opposed” in the February 1-15 issue of Mazdoor Ekta Lehar.  Reading this, I got to know of the conspiracy hatched by the government in its efforts to privatize Air India.

Working Class Viewpoint

Dear Editor,

I am writing to thank you for the first in the series of views of representatives of the working class in the form of an interview with Com. Lal Singh, General Secretary of the CGPI in the October 16-31, 2011 issue of MEL. The series will be a landmark contribution to the struggle for the liberation of India through the offices of the working class.

Navnirman is not far off

At the heart of the crisis is the question as to what constitutes political power in India, what is the genesis of the power, and the question of who wields it and for what purpose.  This question is directly related to the question of the 1950 Constitution of India, and what its central premises are.  This essence of the latter is the defence of a viciously exploitative system that defends the right of a miniscule minority to exploit the resources and the labour of the vast majority, and the ascendancy of the right of private property.

Right to dissent

The Indian state and its activities are innately violent and its sole response to any struggle is one of wielding the big stick. This state derives its legitimacy as the successor to the colonial British state which looked upon the people of India as its enemy. The discussion must therefore begin as to what should constitute a modern state and what its duties and rights are. Is it so that the Indian state can carry on by dint of its existence, or must it have some other reason for its existence?  Has the state lived up to its duties and can therefore claim to have rights?

Air India

Sir,

I read with great interest the in-depth article entitled ``What is the trouble with Air India and who is the trouble-maker?'' posted on the party web-site on the 17th of July 2011.

I have gathered the following from the article which I would like to express in bullet points as follows:

I support the air India pilots strike

The Delhi High Court ordered the striking pilots back to work by declaring the strike illegal, and is initiating contempt proceedings since its order was not obeyed.  It has remarked that if its orders are not obeyed, then it would lead to anarchy and a discrediting of the institution, and then everyone would do as they liked. Why does not the Court also ask this of the management, and in particular of the MD, Mr. Arvind Jadhav? The latter has now been named in several allegations amounting to corruption of the worst sort, including those listed in the article, and more recently in the sale of valuable land to private players.

Letters to the Editor

Solution lies in changing the system

Dear Sir/Madam,
I read wih great interest on the CGPI website the 20th March statement on Tamil Nadu elections titled Solution lies in changing the system, not merely the party in power.  It is a bold statement that calls a spade a spade.

Condemn the deliberate inflaming of passions

Sir,

I am writing to thank you for the article entitled "Sri Krishna Committee submits report on Telangana: Condemn the deliberate inflaming of passions among the people!'' in the columns of the January 16-31, 2011 issue of Mazdoor Ekta Lehar. The article must be commended on many points, including its simple and scientific language, historical accuracy and the complete honesty of purpose.

Indo US alliance

Sir, I am writing to thank you for carrying the article entitled ``Indo-US strategic alliance is an imperialist alliance! It is against the interests of India and world’s peoples”. I would like to point out that the article is in the finest tradition of Marxism-Leninism analyzing the ground realities of the world situation.

Hail the Fourth Congress of our Party

Sir, I am writing to thank you for carrying the report on the Fourth Congress of the Communist Ghadar Party of India that took place in October 2010. The Congress has taken place as we approach the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of our revolutionary and patriotic party, and in the midst of the all round crisis of credibility of the bourgeoisie, its politics and its state. This has also been a period when the objective conditions for revolution have been ripening, whereas it is also the one where the subjective conditions have been definitely lagging behind.

Struggle for Human Rights

Sir, I found the article entitled ``The struggle for human rights is in essence the struggle for proletarian democracy’’ in the December 1-15, 2010 issue of MEL to be of immense value and educational. It is in the highest tradition of scientific analysis of which the CGPI is the fountainhead. It is an article that is necessarily partisan as the CGPI is the vanguard of the working class.

Kashmir: Real face of Indian democracy

The Editor, Apropos the article entitled 'Kashmir - an exposure of the real face of Indian democracy’, I am writing to express my thanks to the CGPI for its bold and categorical stand on the matter.  Written in the wake of the 'all-party’ delegation’s visit to Srinagar to supposedly appraise itself of the situation, the article captured in no uncertain terms that the mask of Indian democracy has been torn apart by the thousands of brave men, women and children who have come out into the streets to express their anger against continuous and increased repression under the hands of the state.

In support of Mumbai’s motormen

Sir, The demands of the Central and Western Railway motormen are totally just. It is the worst kind of exploitation to keep workers on contract when they have been working continuously for over 20 years. It is indeed a strange principle that is applied in our country. Those in the highest positions are not at all accountable, they are paid the highest salaries and are afforded all kinds of perquisites, and they are permanent employees! On the other hand, workers at the lowest rung who are paid an apology of a wage have the sword of contractual employment forever hanging over their heads - this is the worst kind of exploitation.

Solidarity with Air India workers

Sir, I am writing to express my support to the workers of Air India in their struggle against the dictatorial management authorities as well as the Minister for Civil Aviation, towards redressal of their genuine grievances. I fully endorse the demand raised by CGPI that the termination and suspension of Air India Union activists be immediately revoked. The attacks on the unions of workers in terms of “derecognition” and sealing of offices must be immediately ended.

Operation Blue Star

Sir,Operation Blue Star was the opening of the flood gates to a massive onslaught that would be launched against Sikhs in the coming months and years, which would tear asunder the struggles of the peasantry and the common working people. The use of massive violence then paved the path to the dovetailing of the people of India into the agenda of the bourgeoisie.

Call of May Day

A call to workers to lay claim on social surplus

Dear Editor,

Petrol Prices in Delhi % of sale price
Price without duties and taxes 43
Subsidy/Under recovery 10
Sales Tax 15
Custom duty 1
Excise duty 31
Total 100

When the vast sections of our country are seriously impacted by the ruthless price rise and its consequences, our government in its recent budget has not shown any kind of sympathy or concern to their plight. This whole budget has been oriented towards facilitating further maximizing profits for the capitalists.
