National Emergency

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Sat, 15/07/2017 - 17:24
I am writing in reponse to the Statement of the CC of the CGPI dated 5 June 2017 entitled '42nd anniversary of the declaration of National Emergency: Behind the signboard of democracy stands the brutal dictatorship of the biggest monopolies' carried in the June 16-30, 2017 issue of MEL. The National Emergency was a watershed in the history of post-1947 India and understanding the precise class character and the underlying complexion thereof is crucial for the movement and for the working class in order for the revolutionary camp to go forward.

I am writing to thank you for carrying the important and educative article entitled 'What is the way out of the crisis of agriculture?' in the May 1-15, 2017 issue of MEL. This article is an outstanding example of Marxist-Leninist analysis of the concrete problems faced by the people of the country engaged in the agricultural sector, accounting probably for 70% of the population. The article begins by noting the recent directive from the Madras High Court to the Government of TN to waive all farm loans through cooperative banks.

Government’s role is to guarantee the profits of the capitalists!

Submitted by vivek on Thu, 01/03/2012 - 19:30

I read the article that called for exposing and resolutely opposing the anti-worker and anti-national privatization policy of the government in the February 1-15 issue of Mazdoor Ekta Lehar.  The reader got to know the conspiracy hatched by the government in its efforts to privatize Air India.

Comrade Lal Singh's new year's greetings

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Mon, 16/01/2012 - 21:30

Dear Editor,

I read the New Year's message of comrade Lal Singh. It inspires us to work even harder for the proletarian revolution. The whole world is caught in a deep crisis. The burden of the crisis is being shifted on to the backs of the working class. The danger of imperialist wars is spreading as also imperialism and fascism.

Sirsa meeting on `How Can People Come to Power?'

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Sat, 01/10/2011 - 21:30

The Editor,

It is with great joy that I read the report in the columns of the September 16-30, 2011 issue of MEL on the public meeting in Sirsa, Haryana held on August 28, 2011 that deliberated on several questions facing the people of India, and in particular on the question of `How Can People Come to Power?'

Navnirman is not far off

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Fri, 16/09/2011 - 18:30

At the heart of the crisis is the question as to what constitutes political power in India, what is the genesis of the power, and the question of who wields it and for what purpose.  This question is directly related to the question of the 1950 Constitution of India, and what its central premises are.  This essence of the latter is the defence of a viciously exploitative system that defends the right of a miniscule minority to exploit the resources and the labour of the vast majority, and the ascendancy of the right of private property.

Right to dissent

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Fri, 16/09/2011 - 17:30

The Indian state and its activities are innately violent and its sole response to any struggle is one of wielding the big stick. This state derives its legitimacy as the successor to the colonial British state which looked upon the people of India as its enemy. The discussion must therefore begin as to what should constitute a modern state and what its duties and rights are. Is it so that the Indian state can carry on by dint of its existence, or must it have some other reason for its existence?  Has the state lived up to its duties and can therefore claim to have rights?

Air India

Sir,

I read with great interest the in-depth article entitled ``What is the trouble with Air India and who is the trouble-maker?'' posted on the party web-site on the 17th of July 2011.

I have gathered the following from the article which I would like to express in bullet points as follows:

I support the air India pilots strike

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Fri, 06/05/2011 - 20:36

The Delhi High Court ordered the striking pilots back to work by declaring the strike illegal, and is initiating contempt proceedings since its order was not obeyed.  It has remarked that if its orders are not obeyed, then it would lead to anarchy and a discrediting of the institution, and then everyone would do as they liked. Why does not the Court also ask this of the management, and in particular of the MD, Mr. Arvind Jadhav? The latter has now been named in several allegations amounting to corruption of the worst sort, including those listed in the article, and more recently in the sale of valuable land to private players.

Sir, I am writing to thank you for carrying the report on the Fourth Congress of the Communist Ghadar Party of India that took place in October 2010. The Congress has taken place as we approach the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of our revolutionary and patriotic party, and in the midst of the all round crisis of credibility of the bourgeoisie, its politics and its state. This has also been a period when the objective conditions for revolution have been ripening, whereas it is also the one where the subjective conditions have been definitely lagging behind.

Struggle for Human Rights

Sir, I found the article entitled ``The struggle for human rights is in essence the struggle for proletarian democracy’’ in the December 1-15, 2010 issue of MEL to be of immense value and educational. It is in the highest tradition of scientific analysis of which the CGPI is the fountainhead. It is an article that is necessarily partisan as the CGPI is the vanguard of the working class.

The Editor, Apropos the article entitled 'Kashmir - an exposure of the real face of Indian democracy’, I am writing to express my thanks to the CGPI for its bold and categorical stand on the matter.  Written in the wake of the 'all-party’ delegation’s visit to Srinagar to supposedly appraise itself of the situation, the article captured in no uncertain terms that the mask of Indian democracy has been torn apart by the thousands of brave men, women and children who have come out into the streets to express their anger against continuous and increased repression under the hands of the state.

In support of Mumbai’s motormen

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 16/07/2010 - 10:30

Sir, The demands of the Central and Western Railway motormen are totally just. It is the worst kind of exploitation to keep workers on contract when they have been working continuously for over 20 years. It is indeed a strange principle that is applied in our country. Those in the highest positions are not at all accountable, they are paid the highest salaries and are afforded all kinds of perquisites, and they are permanent employees! On the other hand, workers at the lowest rung who are paid an apology of a wage have the sword of contractual employment forever hanging over their heads - this is the worst kind of exploitation.

Sir, I am writing to express my support to the workers of Air India in their struggle against the dictatorial management authorities as well as the Minister for Civil Aviation, towards redressal of their genuine grievances. I fully endorse the demand raised by CGPI that the termination and suspension of Air India Union activists be immediately revoked. The attacks on the unions of workers in terms of “derecognition” and sealing of offices must be immediately ended.

Operation Blue Star

Sir,Operation Blue Star was the opening of the flood gates to a massive onslaught that would be launched against Sikhs in the coming months and years, which would tear asunder the struggles of the peasantry and the common working people. The use of massive violence then paved the path to the dovetailing of the people of India into the agenda of the bourgeoisie.

Petrol Prices in Delhi % of sale price
Price without duties and taxes 43
Subsidy/Under recovery 10
Sales Tax 15
Custom duty 1
Excise duty 31
Total 100

When the vast sections of our country are seriously impacted by the ruthless price rise and its consequences, our government in its recent budget has not shown any kind of sympathy or concern to their plight. This whole budget has been oriented towards facilitating further maximizing profits for the capitalists.

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
