On the 146th birth anniversary of V I Lenin:

Lenin’s teachings on imperialism and the revolution retain their complete validity today

April 22 marks the 146th birth anniversary of VI Lenin. Lenin will always be remembered and honored for his invaluable contribution to the treasury of Marxism — the revolutionary doctrine of emancipation of the working class from the shackles of capitalist slavery. Lenin further developed the theory of Marxism, in the conditions wherein capitalism had reached the stage of imperialism, its final stage, at the end of the nineteenth century.

In 1914, the biggest imperialists of the world had unleashed a devastating world war to re-divide the world amongst themselves. Millions of people were slaughtered in this war for the sake of the profits of the biggest monopolies. In these conditions the Russian working class led by the Bolshevik party rose up in revolution, overthrew the rule of the Tsar, the capitalists and the landlords, and established in its place the rule of the working class in alliance with the toiling peasantry. Lenin will always be remembered as the architect of the Great October Socialist Revolution that shook the world in November 1917.

Prepare for the coming revolutionary storms!

The entire world, including India, is a seething volcano waiting to erupt.

For 25 years and more, the capitalists and imperialists have been repeatedly declaring that there is no alternative to the capitalist system. In India and in all other countries of the capitalist imperialist world, the working class and broad masses of people are groaning under the weight of unbearable, ever intensifying exploitation and oppression. The rights that the working class has won through immense struggle and sacrifice in the course of the twentieth century are under attack. In our country as well as world over, intensified fascist attacks have been launched on the broad masses of people, in the name of “war against terrorism”, “national security” and “defending national unity and territorial integrity”.

Protests and demonstrations across the country marked the 22nd anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid. Delhi witnessed a massive rally from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar that culminated in a 3 hour meeting at which speakers from about 30 organisations condemned the criminal act and committed to unite against state terrorism and fight for the renewal of Indian Society.

Starting from 10 a.m. in the morning, hundreds of people began assembling at Mandi House. The numbers swelled and by about 11:30 a.m. the rally began with thousands of protestors marching in a disciplined manner behind the main banner, which boldly declared, ‘Unite against communal hate-mongering and violence, state terror and for rebuilding a just society!’ and ‘An attack on one is an attack on all!’ Representatives of all the organisations were with the main banner as the rally proceeded towards Jantar Mantar. Militant slogans of “Down with State Terror” and demanding punishment of those guilty of the crime reverberated in the air.

Time and again it has been shown that it is the Anglo American imperialists, and their agencies in India and Pakistan, who are the biggest roadblock to peace in the subcontinent. On the other hand, the so called "patriotism" that the ruling class promotes, is to lick the boots of Anglo American imperialists, and spew hatred against the neighbouring countries, especially Pakistan.

Lessons from the Soviet experience are vital for the working class to win the battle of democracy

The 1936 Soviet Constitution laid down the basis for a political process in which candidates would be selected by the electorate. Every kind of people’s organisation in the constituency – be it a local branch of the communist party or a workers’ union, peasants’ association, women’s organisation, student group or youth club, could nominate its candidate for election to the legislative bodies. All nominations would go through a lengthy and detailed selection process, with the electorate being enabled to express its opinions and exercise its rights. The selection process would result in a final shortlist of candidates approved by the electorate. Only then would the final voting take place, among the shortlist of candidates selected by the people.

Blame the central state and its policy for the terror and insecurity faced by the peoples of the North East!

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Sun, 02/09/2012 - 01:20

Army rule is the reality in most parts of the North East.  For the peoples of the North-East, the departure of the British in 1947 did not mean the end of colonial rule.  The region has been ruled virtually as a colony from New Delhi right from that time.  When the peoples of this region have demanded their national and political rights, they have been beaten down ruthlessly, and called agents of foreign powers.

Having been at the receiving end of repression and terror at the hands of the central state and its agencies for so many decades, it is natural that the peoples of this region do not trust the central leaders, who are today promising protection for North-Eastern peoples, declaring they are all Indians.  Many of them can see that this is actually a veiled threat; they are being told to better be loyal to the Indian Union and its policy, if they want to feel safe.

No justification for violating the self-determination of nations and peoples!

Submitted by cgpiadmin on Fri, 16/09/2011 - 23:30

A great tragedy for the peoples and complication in the struggle for self-determination arose through the betrayal of principles by the Soviet Union headed by the Khrushchevites. While restoring capitalist exploitation and national oppression within, the Soviet Union emerged as a full-fledged social-imperialist power, contending and colluding with the US for domination over the globe. The Soviet social-imperialists proclaimed the nefarious theory of “limited sovereignty” to justify their efforts to dominate the countries of people’s democracy in Eastern Europe. In the name of opposing US imperialism, they intervened in the affairs of a number of countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. The invasions of Czechoslovakia in 1968 and of Afghanistan in 1979 showed the extent to which the rulers of the Soviet Union had departed from the principles originally laid down in that country.

If we honestly sum up our experience, we workers of India must admit that our struggle has been weakened by narrow party politics. Such politics has divided us and diverted us from the struggle against the capitalist class. Parties whose aim is to come to power at any cost have raised slogans against privatization and liberalization, but have implemented the same once in power. Parties that are active in the working class movement have collaborated in the capitalist land grab in the name of industrialization. Such class conciliation has resulted in weakening our struggle against the bourgeois offensive. It has assisted the bourgeoisie in intensifying the exploitation of the working class.

Various parties that call themselves communist are organising workers, peasants, women and youth behind aims that are contrary to the aim of dictatorship of proletariat.  It is part of our communist duty to dispel the cloak of ignorance and false consciousness that has been spread over the Indian working class. We need to draw a clear line of demarcation between what is communism and what is pseudo-communism.  Only then can we lead the working class on the revolutionary path.  Only then can we unite communists on the basis of cleansing the movement of all forms of bourgeois ideology.  This was one of the most important messages of the paper presented on 25th December.

Communists work for advancing the interests of the working class. Their aim is to bring the working class and peasantry to power, not to establish and defend a party dictatorship by fire and sword. For a party to use violence against its political opponents is against all norms of democracy... What happened in Nandigram is not an aberration or excess.
