There have been widespread protests in Europe against the violence targeting Muslims in North-east Delhi in the last week of February in which more than 40 people lost their lives and hundreds were injured. It is estimated that nearly 1500 people participated in these protests in major cities of Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Poland, Ireland, Scotland, UK, Austria, Netherlands and other countries of the European continent.

Protestors expressed solidarity with the victims of the state sponsored violence. They held placards and shouted slogans condemning the government for its 'gross failure' to maintain peace and to arrest the leaders who have been accused of instigating the violence.

Slogans in English and Hindi, poetry and speeches and a tribute to Shaheen Bagh marked the protest in the Netherlands where Indians gathered outside the Indian embassy in The Hague. Inclement weather could not stop members of the Indian diaspora and others to come together for a silent protest condemning the Delhi violence in Helsinki in Finland. Some of them taped their mouths with black cloth symbolizing the curbing of dissent. The protest ended with the poem ‘Sab Yaad Rakha Jayega’. In Paris, French citizens joined Indians to condemn the state-sponsored violence in Delhi, as the 43 victims of the violence last weekend were remembered: their names, professions and families mentioned. A minute silence was observed in their honor and white roses, a symbol of anti-fascist resistance in Europe, were laid near the consular office in Paris. The protest in Stockholm, Sweden, also observed a minute of silence for the victims of fascist violence in Delhi and other parts of India.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
