Condemn the state-organised sectarian genocide in Assam!

Organising and sponsoring underground armed groups to carry out indiscriminate or sectarian violence, and then ordering the official armed forces to unleash terror in the name of restoring peace and order – this is the tried and tested method of rule of the Indian big bourgeoisie.  The Congress Party is the most experienced exponent of such divide and rule tactics, inherited from colonial times and further perfected since then.

On the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan by US imperialism

Anti-Imperialist forces resolve to throw imperialists out of Asia

We denounce the decision of the Manmohan Singh government to send the Indian Army to Afghanistan to "train" the puppet Afghan army, set up by the US imperialists, to attack the Afghan people's anti-imperialist national liberation struggle. We consider this as an excuse to intervene in Afghanistan against our own brothers and sisters.

We believe that the fountainhead of terrorism worldwide is US imperialism.

Prime Minister's message on Kashmir

Two months after the latest round of furious protests by the Kashmiri people began, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh finally chose to address the issue. This was at an “all-party” meeting convened in New Delhi to discuss the situation in Kashmir, from which many parties to the struggle there were conspicuously absent. Manmohan Singh’s remarks at the meeting were enough to dispel any illusions that his government was going to launch any fresh initiatives to solve the problem.

Editorial: Ghost of Bhopal and the deepening credibility crisis

The storm raised in India and abroad over the trial court verdict on the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984 has deepened the crisis of credibility of the Manmohan Singh regime. From the painstaking evidence gathered by those fighting for justice for the lakhs of victims of this tragedy, it is clear as daylight that the then Rajiv Gandhi regime was more concerned about rescuing Warren Anderson and the management of Union Carbide from the wrath of the people, than about ensuring justice for the victims of the gas tragedy.

Pushing the privatisation program in the form of disinvestment

The privatisation program of the bourgeoisie has been given a fresh boost by the policy decisions announced by the Manmohan Singh government on 12th November, 2009. All central government public sector companies which have made profit in the last three years have been asked to get their shares listed on the stock exchange. Listing shares on the stock exchange means that parts of these companies will pass into private owners' hands.  Current regulations require that at least 10 percent of shares of a company must be privately owned for its shares to be listed.  Thus, the present government has initiated the process of privatisation of another 50 public sector companies.
