Long live the struggle of women for complete emancipation!

Mazdoor Ekta Lehar salutes the millions of fighting women of our country and the world on the occasion of International Working Women's Day, 2011. We salute the working women who are in the front lines of the battles against the attacks on the livelihood and rights of the working class. We salute the university and school girls fighting for the rights of students and of workers. We salute the women of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Algeria, and other countries, who have come out courageously on to the streets facing the armed might of unpopular regimes, fighting to take control of their own destinies.

Against the conviction of Dr. Binayak Sen: Forward with the struggle against state terrorism and in defence of the right to conscience

 

On December 24, 2010 Dr. Binayak Sen was convicted by a Raipur Sessions Court on charges of "sedition" and "waging war against the Indian state" and sentenced to life imprisonment. He has been charged under various sections of the IPC, the Chhattisgarh Special Public Safety Act and the UAPA.

Prime Minister's message on Kashmir

Two months after the latest round of furious protests by the Kashmiri people began, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh finally chose to address the issue. This was at an “all-party” meeting convened in New Delhi to discuss the situation in Kashmir, from which many parties to the struggle there were conspicuously absent. Manmohan Singh’s remarks at the meeting were enough to dispel any illusions that his government was going to launch any fresh initiatives to solve the problem.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

65 years ago, the United States of America (USA) dropped atom bombs on two towns of Japan.

On August 6, 1945, the atom bomb was exploded over Hiroshima, and on August 9, 1945, over Nagasaki. Nearly three lakh women, men and children died within a period of two months after the dropping of the bombs, half of them on the days of the bombings. The long term effects of the radiation has effected entire generations. The people of Japan and the rest of the world can never forget or forgive the US imperialists for this grave crime against humanity.

Editorial: Ghost of Bhopal and the deepening credibility crisis

The storm raised in India and abroad over the trial court verdict on the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984 has deepened the crisis of credibility of the Manmohan Singh regime. From the painstaking evidence gathered by those fighting for justice for the lakhs of victims of this tragedy, it is clear as daylight that the then Rajiv Gandhi regime was more concerned about rescuing Warren Anderson and the management of Union Carbide from the wrath of the people, than about ensuring justice for the victims of the gas tragedy.
