Hospital workers celebrate May day

On Mayday morning, hospital staff of VHS Hospital at Tharamani, Chennai gathered at their gate to celebrate May Day.

General Secretary of the VHS Workers Union, Com S.Manidasan inagurated the meeting. He recounted the militant struggle of workers of this hospital. It is the militant unity of the workers and uncompromising struggle that they waged which has resulted in the successes achieved. Unity and support extended by various trade unions and organizations has also helped us to fight without any fear or disillusionment.

Com Bhaskar of the Workers Unity Movement hoisted the red flag. He condemned the management of VHS for privatizing various departments. Government is creating a situation wherein the healthcare is a privilege for those with money, while the workers and working people are being deprived of their right to health care.

The VHS workers resolved to further strengthen their fighting unity and fight for their rights uncompromisingly.

and privatisation. The truth is thatthere IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s
needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the
