Members and supporters of CGPI assembled at 7 o’clock in the morning on 1 May 2015 at the Party Central Office in Delhi on the occasion of May Day. Comrades saluted the martyrs of Chicago and committed to intensify the struggle of the working class.

Members and supporters of CGPI assembled at 7 o’clock in the morning on 1 May 2015 at the Party Central Office in Delhi on the occasion of May Day. Comrades saluted the martyrs of Chicago and committed to intensify the struggle of the working class.

The party office and its surrounding area was decorated with red flags and banners proclaiming ‘Workers of the world, Unite!’, ‘Those who produce the wealth of the country must become its masters!’, ‘We are her masters, we are Hindostan; Workers, peasants, women and youth!’ The function commenced with the unfurling  of red flag by comrade Birju Nayak of the Mazdoor Ekta Committee.

Addressing the meeting, Comrade Birju Nayak said that leaders of the workers in Chicago, USA were fired upon and sent to the gallows for demanding an 8-hour work day. In the end, the working class won its demand. The 8-hour workday was adopted in the whole world. On this day, workers of the world celebrate by remembering their martyrs. He said that Indian capitalists have reached among the top three countries of the world by intensifying the exploitation of workers. To fulfil their imperialist ambition, they are competing with the biggest capitalists of the world.

Addressing the gathering, the spokesperson of the Area Committee of CGPI, comrade Santosh Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is raising the slogan of ‘Make in India’ during his tour of the world. He is inviting the capitalist of the world to come and exploit the land, natural resources and  physical labour and mental labour, which is among the cheapest in the world to make huge profits. He said that the government is justifying the forcible acquisition of land of farmers for fulfilling the huge needs of the big industrial houses and for the industrial corridors. Do the sons and daughters of farmers not have the right to get educated, to find employment and improve their standard of living?

Concluding the meeting on behalf of Hind Naujavan Ekta Sabha, Com. Lokesh Kumar gave a rousing call to workers, peasants, women and youth to unite in struggle under the leadership of the working class’ vanguard party, the Communist Ghadar Party of India to establish a society where the toilers who contribute to the wealth of the country will be her masters.

The meeting concluded with militant slogans of Inquilab Zindabad and Long live International Workers’ Day.
