The Samyukta Kriti Samiti of working class organisations held a meeting of activists in Mumbai on July 31st in opposition to the anti-worker and anti-peasant bourgeois government. The aim of the meeting was to discuss how to make the September 2nd General Strike successful enough to bring the bourgeoisie’s rule to a halt. 35 organisations including AITUC, CITU, Kamgar Ekta Chalval, bank unions, insurance unions, teachers organisations, professors organisations, BSNL, Airport unions, BMS, Sarva Shramik Sangathan, Kamgar Aghadi and others participated in this meeting. INTUC and Bharatiya Kamgar Sena Mahasangh were also present.
All trade unions have given the call to strike across the country in support of the demands to cease violation of labour laws, end contract system, to end daily wage work and outsourcing, of pension for all, equal wages for equal work, social security for landless and all unorganised workers, etc. This meeting was called in Bhupesh Gupta Hall to ensure enthusiastic participation and a successful strike. More than 300 activitists from all the organizations participated in the meeting.
Speakers from all the organisations spoke militantly with revolutionary slogans and condemned the anti-worker-peasant government. Suryankant, who spoke on behalf of Kamgar Ekta Chalval said that this government is of the big capitalists like Tata, Birla and others. It is passing laws against the workers and peasants. We must struggle against this government. The struggle must be carried forward against the rule of the bourgeoisie. The government and bourgeoisie will organise violence, divisions and conflict amongst the people on the basis of caste and religion, in order to realise their aims. We have to be careful. We should set aside such issues and unite in struggle.
