Meeting on Communal Violence at Baroda Railway Colony

On September 18thLok Raj Sangathan(LRS) and Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) organised a presentation on Communal Violence: Roots and Solution, to a large group of railway workers at  Railway Colony, Baroda, Gujarat. The presentation and discussion lasted from 11AM to 2.15 PM.

Com Kulsheshta, All India Station Masters Association, welcomed everybody and invited the representatives of LRS and KEC to make the presentation. The railway workers, who had gathered despite the very heavy rain in the city, included several loco pilots and guards.

Introducing the presentation, the KEC representative explained that to push the anti-peoplepolicies, such as the privatisation of railways, the rulers used their time tested weapon of Divide and Rule.

The LRS representative then presented the detailed history of communal violence, the situation in India before the arrival of the British, the perfection of communal violence as a tool in the policy of Divide and Rule adopted by the British, its continued use even after the departure of the British and the character of the Indian State and how it is an instrument of class rule by the big monopoly capitalists.

There was unanimous agreement with the presentation. It was followed by a lively discussion. Comrade A.K.Srivastava, General Secretary , All India Guards Council, reiterated the lessons of the presentation that there was a need for the railway workers to be vigilant against the divide and rule policy being implemented by the ruling classes and against the attempts to privatise the railways.
