Demand for halting trains in small stations and for better train timings: Rail roko agitation Ramgarh

The villagers of Ramgarh, a sub tehsil in Hanuman district of Rajasthan, blocked the passage of Sadulpur to Sriganganagar train in the afternoon of 26 March 2018 at the Ramgarh station. The villagers were angry at the sudden decision of the officials to remove Ramgarh halt for many passenger trains including the Hanumangarh–Sadulpur Passenger. The officials also changed the time table of passenger trains plying on this route so that the trains were no longer useful to the villagers.

Rail Roko in RJ

The agitation was led by Lok Raj Sangathan. The district administration had mobilized a large police force to intimidate the villagers. The police tried their utmost to forcibly remove the villagers but did not succeed in removing the villagers. For several hours the leaders of the agitation and the railway officials discussed the matter through video conferencing. In the end, the railway officials had to agree to the just demands of the villagers. They had to agree to halt the passenger trains not only in Ramgarh but also at other stations throughout the district. This was an important victory for the people of villages in the whole district.

Now the various people's organisations, led by Lok Raj Sangathan, are preparing to launch agitation for getting the time tables corrected for the trains plying on this route.
