The demonstrator raised slogans like, “M.J Akbar must resign”, “Punish sexual crime offenders”, “Secure the workplace for women”, “We will not put up with patriarchy at the workplace”, etc. to express their anger at such crimes.

Representatives of the participating organisations addressed the meeting. The speakers explained that women have come out today to talk about sexual harassment incidents that took place 10-15 years ago. These are women who work in the movie industry, media and private and public sector corporations. They have shown great courage in naming the perpetrators of the crime against them, notwithstanding that some of them are in high positions, such as M.J. Akbar. The speakers condemned the statement of MP Udit Raj that only middle class women are spreading such lies, and we should not believe them.

In the course of the demonstration, the women stopped traffic at the roundabout at Jantar Mantar, and then concluded the protest at Parliament Street.
