On the eve of the 17th Lok Sabha Elections:

Let us advance the struggle for the Navnirman of India!

Call of the Central Committee of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, 27th March, 2019

Comrades and friends, Elections to the Lok Sabha are to take place from 11th April to 19th May. It is predicted to be the most expensive elections in the world. The Tatas, Ambanis, Birlas and other Indian monopoly houses as well as foreign capitalist companies are pouring huge amounts of money to back the campaigns of the main rival parties.

In each state, and on all-India scale, two or three rival coalitions of capitalist parties are seeking the people’s vote. These are parties with a track record of implementing the capitalist enrichment program of globalization, liberalisation and privatisation. Their spokespersons dominate TV channels. All other parties and all non-party candidates are completely marginalized.

Centenary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

A Criminal Act of Genocide Against the Indian People

One hundred years ago, on April 13, 1919, one of the worst atrocities inflicted by the British colonial rulers on our people took place. On that day, thousands of unarmed people protesting in a confined space against the anti-people actions of the British were brutally shot at in cold blood by a military force commanded by the British officer Dyer. This was the infamous Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, which marked a new level of brutality of British colonial rule after 1857. It exposed the hypocrisy of the colonial rulers’ announcement just a short time earlier that they would consider eventually allowing the Indian people to have ‘responsible government’. Above all, the anger and resentment that this unspeakable massacre aroused in Indian people around the country and abroad led to the broadening and deepening of the anti-colonial movement of the Indian people.

Supreme Court order on eviction of tribals and forest dwellers:

The Indian state does not recognize or defend the rights of the tribal people

On February 13, 2019, the Supreme Court issued an order directing states to evict Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (OTFD) whose claims over forest land have been rejected. As a result of this order, an estimated 10 million tribals and forest dwellers in various states across the country face the threat of eviction from their traditional lands and homes. The Supreme Court order was in response to petitions filed by Wildlife First, Nature Conservation Society and Tiger Research and Conservation Trust, which have argued that the rejection of an FRA claim implies that the claimant is an encroacher and not a bona fide forest dweller.

Drought in Maharashtra : Result of criminal apathy of parties of ruling class

Drought in Maharashtra“Maharashtra will be drought-free by 2019.” So announced the newly-elected BJP-led government in Maharashtra four years ago on 9th March 2015. Under tremendous pressure from farmers and rural population reeling under the severe drought conditions, it announced “Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan” to take permanent measures to make Maharashtra “drought-free”. The reality of severe drought in 2019 in the state shows that it was yet another declaration to fool people, to cool down their anger.
