Drought in Maharashtra : Result of criminal apathy of parties of ruling class

Drought in Maharashtra“Maharashtra will be drought-free by 2019.” So announced the newly-elected BJP-led government in Maharashtra four years ago on 9th March 2015. Under tremendous pressure from farmers and rural population reeling under the severe drought conditions, it announced “Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan” to take permanent measures to make Maharashtra “drought-free”. The reality of severe drought in 2019 in the state shows that it was yet another declaration to fool people, to cool down their anger.

All out for the success of the workers’ protest on 10th March:

Escalate the struggle against the anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program of the ruling class!

Statement of the Communist Ghadar Party of India, March 10, 2016

Comrade workers!

At the call of the trade unions, crores of workers are participating in protest rallies all over the country today. Once again, we workers are on the streets demanding that the government address our concerns and fulfill our demands.

Six months ago, on 2nd September, 2015, crores of workers participated in an All-India General Strike.  We raised our collective voice against the unbearable levels of inflation, unemployment, job insecurity and all-sided attacks on workers’ rights. We demanded an immediate halt to privatisation in vital sectors including railways, banking, insurance, defence production and retail trade.  We opposed the opening up of more and more sectors of the economy to foreign direct investment.  But our voices keep falling on deaf years.

Prime Minister's message on Kashmir

Two months after the latest round of furious protests by the Kashmiri people began, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh finally chose to address the issue. Manmohan Singh’s remarks at the meeting were enough to dispel any illusions that his government was going to launch any fresh initiatives to solve the problem.

Manifesto 2014There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program. However, the working class is being prevented from realizing its potential as the leader of all the exploited, and as the grave-digger of capitalism, by those in the communist movement who are spreading harmful illusions and compromising the class struggle.
