Protest by bank employees

The work load on bank employees has been increasing with each day on account of the demonetization move by the government, and they have been working day and night. In such a situation, Prime Minister Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and the Reserve Bank have been accusing the bank employees of declaring to the public that they do not have enough money for them to withdraw, despite the bank having sufficient funds; the bank employees have been accused of siphoning crores of rupees to their favoured clients.

Bank unions and employees have been holding protests from 15th to 22nd December at their bank branches and at the main office of RBI. At these meetings, leaders of bank unions have exposed the lies behind these allegations. They have explained that since the demonetization came into effect, adequate cash has not been received at any of their bank branches as a result of which the bank employees have been under great stress and customers have been denied their cash requirement. Bank employees have been working from 10 a.m to 10 p.m, and no compensation is being paid to them.

The RBI has been changing its guidelines every day, imposing further constraints on the working of banks. As a result, people are facing harassment. It is the government’s policy to spread lies to befuddle the people and divert their anger against the bank employees.
