Opposition to acquisition of fertile land for atomic power station

A rally was brought out under the leadership of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti on 19th March 2011 in Fatehabad, Haryana against the Gorakhpur Atomic Power Station. The demonstrators, consisting of hundreds of militant farmers, youth and women of 20 to 25 village panchayats, took out a candle light march right through the centre of the town.

The demonstrators observed a two-minute silence for people who have recently died due to radiation leakage from the nuclear disaster in Fukushima atomic power plant in Japan.

The agitation against installation of the Gorakhpur Atomic Power Station on fertile land has been going on in Fatehabad since last August. Lok Raj Sangathan has been taking active part in this agitation, led by the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti.

Comrade Dhuni Chand and Pradhan Hansraj of LRS and comrade Mahavir Sharma of the Sanjha Manch, Hissar were amongst the representatives of several organizations and parties that addressed this rally.

Parties of the capitalist class claim that there is no
alternative to the program of globalisation, liberalisation
and privatisation. The truth is thatthere IS an alternative.

The alternative is to reorient the economy to fulfil people’s
needs instead of fulfilling capitalist greed. This is the
program for the Navnirman of India.
