We need to rebuild the Republic

Sir,

I am writing in response to the Statement of the Central Committee of Communist Ghadar Party of India issued on 24th January on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Indian Republic, titled: We need to rebuild the Republic on an entirely new foundation.

With this statement, Communist Ghadar Party has shown that it is possible even in these times of obfuscation and confusion to unwaveringly stick to the true path for the liberation of Indian society.

Crucial to this is the requirement that one should not fall prey to the distractions and diversions that the bourgeoisie throws in front of the people and the working class, and to also avoid chauvinism and vulgar opportunism. The crucible in which this is tested is the foundation of the Indian state and what it really is and what is the path forward. In particular, it is necessary to expose the bogus claim that the Indian State was actually formed by the people of India, while in reality it is an exploiting minority which inherited the supreme power when the British colonialists left India in 1947. The 1950 Constitution provides legitimacy to the anti-people transfer of power. The refusal to come to terms with this trickery has been one of the great problems in the sphere of Indian politics, which has not allowed the country to move forward.

Those who fought for the liberation of India before 1947 did not give up their lives for this state of affairs. The task of liberating India remains unfulfilled. We, the people, have to take up the challenge of replacing the existing Republic with a new one, based on an entirely new foundation.

The Constitution of the new Republic must ensure that sovereignty vests in the people; the State is duty bound to ensure prosperity and protection for all; and that the human rights, democratic and national rights of all are guaranteed. I am proud to second this call.

Sincerely,

A. Narayan, Bangalore

Call of the Central Committee of Communist Ghadar Party of India, 30th August, 2012

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
