Further proof that the American state can never be trusted

The declaration by the US government that people from seven countries — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan — are not welcome into the US, and will be treated as "terrorists" has aroused widespread condemnation both in the US and worldwide.

It has been reported that the target of these attacks include several people who have collaborated with the US state in its wars to destabilize and carry out regime change in these countries. It is well known that to achieve its aim of dominating and subjugating other countries, US imperialism uses various people from those very countries. Such people who believed that the US state would defend them, are now face to face with the bitter truth that they had been cynically exploited by the US state, and are now totally dispensable.

US imperialism systematically stokes up the ambitions of various ruling elites in different countries it dominates or seeks to dominate. It encourages them to attack their neighbours, promising financial and military aid. We must not forget that it was American imperialism which egged on Saddam Husain of Iraq to launch a bloody war against Iran. Later it aggressed on Iraq under the pretext that Saddam Hussein posed the biggest threat to world peace.

In the context of South Asia, the American imperialists use a combination of tactics to keep India and Pakistan at loggerheads with one another, each seeking American support to score points over the other. They sponsor terrorist groups, so-called democracy movements and anti-corruption agitations, all with the aim of weakening both these states and strengthening American imperialist domination of the region.

An important lesson of history is that it is foolish and dangerous for the leaders of any independent country or for any opposition political force to place their trust in the American ruling class. The latest development regarding the ban on entry of citizens from 7 specified countries provides additional evidence for this.

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
