Resolute struggle of Aisin workers

Aisin Automotive Haryana Ltd. is located in Rohtak. It has been the scene of resolute protests by the workers. On May 31, 2017, approximately 600 workers were lathi charged outside the gates of Aisin Automotive Haryana Private Limited. Subsequently, 390 men and 35 women were arrested and sent to jail. This brutality was the response of the management to the formation by the workers of the Aisin Automotive Haryana Mazdoor Union. The workers started their peaceful protests earlier in May, following the summary dismissal of 20 casual workers and conspiracy of the management to prevent the registration of the union by manipulation of employment records.

The resolute struggle of Aisin workers entered its 70th day on 19th July. Over 450 men and 50 women workers are continuing to protest 400 meters outside the factory gate. In spite of treacherous heat, lack of drinking water at the site of protest and local administration not even making sure that there are mobile toilets available for women workers, they are determined to continue the struggle.

Aisin, which had removed over 800 workers (permanent and contract) and then brutally lathi charged and arrested the protesting workers on 31st May, is refusing to negotiate with the workers who are fighting for their demand to get reinstated and fighting for their union to be recognized. As in the case of Automax, the local administration and labour department is hand in glove with the management and is refusing to bring the management to the negotiating table. However the Aisin workers’ union is determined to carry on its struggle.

Working class representatives from all over the country are gathering on 4th September, at a time when a titanic struggle is going on in our country. The struggle is between the majority of toiling and exploited people and a minority of exploiters. It is between the majority whose labour expands wealth and the minority who enjoy the fruits of wealth creation on the basis of their private property and positions of power.
