Hundreds of people participated in a protest march against the privatization of the National Health Service (NHS). The march began at Southhall and culminated in a rally at Ealing common.
The protest rally was organized in the wake of the concerted efforts of the British government to privatize the National Health Service, and close down various public hospitals.
The Indian Workers Association (Great Britain) actively organized for the success of the march. The IWA (GB) and the Ghadar International issued a statement on the occasion which was widely distributed amongst the public.
The leaflet called upon the people to defeat the policy of privatization of NHS and health care. It opposed the closure of Ealing Hospital and other public hospitals.
It may be recalled that Ealing Hospital is the only hospital serving the vast South Asian community in South hall. The people have been vigorously opposing the closure of various departments of this hospital, through numerous demonstrations and other actions.
