MTG on Anarchy and hate crimes

Justice Hosbet Suresh, former president of LRS and its current honorary chairperson presided over the discussion. He highlighted the fact that though our Constitution talks of rights for people, Indian people face hunger even after 71 years of independence. He emphasised that every human right is a fundamental right and must be guaranteed. He pointed out that elections are currently being won by mainstream parties with money power and not by the will of the majority of people of India.

S Raghavan, president of LRS, urged all participating organizations to put forth their views on the forum’s topic so that a collective way forward could be developed as an alternative to the current political system. He exposed the fact that violence and hate crimes are not a new development but have historically been used by all governments to maintain a stranglehold on people by keeping them in a state of fear. The British ruled over India by systematically implementing their policy of divide and rule. They planned the Partition of India and engineered the genocide of two million people with the full support of the Congress and Muslim League. This policy is being used by the current capitalist state as well to keep people of India and Pakistan divided and to continue breeding enmity and hatred between them so that their attention is diverted from the real issues facing them. This is how the Indian state is able to carry out anti-people measures such as demonetization, imposition of Goods and Services Tax (GST), buying Rafael jets and militarization.

Prakash Rao, secretary of LRS reiterated that people are kept in a climate of fear by imposing draconian laws such as UAPA. He emphasized that it is important for all working people to understand the source of the current anarchy if it has to be ended. He pointed out that such anarchy and hate crimes are not particular to India and such incidents are to be seen the world over with a marginal difference in the nature of manifestation in various countries. In actual fact, bomb blasts, terrorist strikes, hate crimes and communal violence are all systematically organized and implemented by the state to terrorize people and create divisions among them. He said that it is imperative to change the current system which is the source of all anarchy and violence and establish a new system that works in the interests of the people.

The meeting concluded with the recognition that people have to resist all attempts to divide them and wage a fight to create a new political system that will guarantee fundamental rights including rights to food, livelihood and a dignified human existence, national rights, and will ensure peace and security for the people of India.

Manifesto 2014Unite around the program to reconstitute the Indian Republic and reorient the economy to ensure prosperity and protection for all!

There is growing realisation among workers, peasants and other self-employed people that the program of liberalisation and privatisation only serves to enrich an exploiting minority at their expense. Mass resistance is growing to this anti-worker, anti-peasant and anti-national program.
