The German state has been stoking racism and anti-immigration sentiment in the country. It has provided active support to racist parties using them to pretend that this is popular sentiment. However the working class and people of Germany gave a fitting reply on 13th October by vehemently rejecting the government’s attempts to create divisions in German society. Marchers carried placards reading “build bridges not walls”, “united against racism” and “we are indivisible – for an open and free society”.

As elsewhere in the world, the German state is unable to provide security for the masses of working people. So, it raises issues linked to immigration to foment social divisions. It hides the fact that the conditions of the people are related to the orientation of the German and global economy towards fulfilling the greed of finance capital at the expense of fulfilling the needs of people.

The State diverts the attention of the people from the fact that wars of aggression and occupation taking place esp in West Asia and North Africa have led to massive migrations of people into Europe; and that this aggression is led by the U.S. and NATO, of which Germany is a member.

The working people of Germany have rejected these sinister lies and diversions. They have unequivocally declared their unity with all the working people in Germany irrespective of their colour and place of origin.
