The campaign of fielding candidates selected by the people has been a great success!

Despite all the pressures of the system and the established political parties, people have come forward and enthusiastically participated in the work of the Jan Pratinidhi Manch.

Over a dozen candidates are standing from different wards on the platform of the JPM. There are many more candidates who are contesting as independents, who have been approaching us and expressing the desire of working closely with JPM.

In the period of one and half months we have achieved the following:

A coherent platform of the JPM which proposes an alternative to the existing party system of rule has been put forward!
A successful campaign has been carried out in numerous wards, as well as in the minds of the people of the capital, through the print and electronic media.
In tune with the developments of the past 4 years, Delhi is no more only the political and administrative capital of India where people from all across the country gather to express their grievances and put forth their alternative vision!
The people of Delhi are themselves showing by example, both through the struggles waged over issues of livelihood and rights, as well as by the process of selection of their own candidates for the MCD elections, their determination to influence the political system and process in their own favor. Jan Pratinidhi Manch is the creation of the people of Delhi and all of us can be proud of this initiative!

Now we are into the campaign phase of the elections. We need every kind of support from each of us -- from planning, to execution, and from human resources to material resources.

ALL those who have participated in the formation and work of JPM are requested to kindly take time off from their extremely busy schedules and give three hours for this crucial meeting. All of us activists are, in final analysis, residents of Delhi. We owe it to the people of Delhi to contribute to cleaning up the political process and putting forth the concerns of the people!
