Condemn the terrorist massacre in Jaipur

Condemn police killings

40 people have been killed and dozens injured in police firings on agitating people of the Gujjar community in Rajasthan since May 23, 2008. Peoples Voice/Mazdoor Ekta Lehar condemns the Rajasthan government for unleashing police terror on agitating people.

Once again, as in last years agitation by the Gujjar community, as well as numerous other agitations of the peasantry in different parts of the state, the government of Rajasthan has shown that it prefers dealing with political problems as “law and order” problems.

Both the Congress and BJP, both the Central and state governments, have been playing with fire over the years, inflaming passions on the question of reservation amongst different sections of the people. With elections in Rajasthan and Delhi due later this year, and general elections due next year, these parties can be depended upon to unleash state terrorism through their governments, as well as fuel sectarian violence, to smash the unity of the people, divert them from political solutions to political problems. They will try deploy every weapon in their arsenal to keep the people marginalized from power, and to come to power themselves.

The workers and peasants of India must thwart these plans of the ruling class and their parties.
