State Elections:
 Dragging politics to the lowest level

Elections, whether for the central parliament or state assemblies, will remain a tool for legitimising the rule of the bourgeoisie until and unless the domination of parties backed by big money power is ended; and the political process is transformed to bring decision-making power into the people’s hands. Only then can the economic system be transformed from being oriented to fulfil capitalist greed to being oriented to fulfil the people’s needs.

On the Repeal of the Three Farm Laws:
Beware of the game plan of the ruling class!

Striking the pose of a great statesman, Prime Minister Modi announced on 19th November that the three farm laws will be repealed soon. He apologized to the people of the country for not being able to convince some kisans about the benefits of these three laws. He claimed that these laws are especially for the benefit of small farmers, hiding the fact that they are designed to benefit monopoly capitalist companies. He promised to continue working “for the country”, while his government continues to work for the Tatas, Ambanis, Birlas, Adanis and other monopoly capitalist houses.

30 years after the launch of the program of liberalisation and privatisation

Thirty years ago, on 24th July, the then Finance Minister Manmohan Singh presented the first budget of the Congress-led government headed by Narasimha Rao. Finance Minister Manmohan Singh declared that the balance of payments situation was precarious, with foreign currency reserves not enough to even pay for one month’s imports. … He then unveiled a program of major changes in policies, laws and regulations relating to trade, investment and the public sector, broadly in line with the prescriptions of the World Bank and the IMF.
