National Convention of Power sector workers declare a bold action plan to oppose privatization!

In the National Convention of all unions and associations of employees and engineers of the power sector held in Nagpur on 23rd February’25, more than 250 of their representatives from across India jointly declared their firm resolve to fight against the privatization of electricity. This Convention was organized at the initiative of the National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), an umbrella body uniting the vast majority of power sector workers of India.

Convention of Electricity Employees and Engineers

The NCCOEEE (National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers) held a convention on March 19, 2022 at Chandigarh. The convention was co-organised by UT Electricity Engineers Union. The Convention was held to sum up the experiences of the heroic strike struggle that the electricity employees and engineers in Chandigarh had waged from February 22-24, 2022 and to take forward the struggle.

Electricity workers of Chandigarh fight against privatisation of electricity distribution

On 11th January 2022, the workers of the Electricity Department of the Union Territory (UT) of Chandigarh held a massive rally and demonstration, under the banner of the UT Powermen Union, to oppose the privatisation of electricity distribution in the UT. They also demanded the implementation of revision of pay scales and the release of the Promotion Orders of the employees. These orders had been stopped despite the availability of posts and eligibility.
